Safeguarding and Child protection are the responsibility of all adults, especially those working and caring for children.
Designated Safeguarding Lead: Mr Scott Macmillan or in his absence, Mrs Debbie Fuller in main school or Mrs Jenny Toal in Nursery
The Headteacher, Mr Scott Macmillan is the Designated Safeguarding Lead and should be informed immediately if any member of our School Community has any concerns regarding children and families in our care. The designated Governor for Safeguarding is Mrs Steph Higham.
Key Areas of Safeguarding: Prevention, Support of Pupils, Staff, Governors and Volunteers who attend our school.

- Ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care • Taking action to enable all children to have the best possible outcomes
There are other school policies linked and related to Safeguarding pupils. These include, Attendance, Behaviour, Anti Bullying, Health & Safety, SEN, Health, ICT, Internet/E-Safety and PREVENT.
Pupils are invited to take part in the KIDSAFE Safeguarding programme for 6 weeks annually. Our accredited trainer is Mrs Jenny Toal.
Allegations against members of staff:
Any allegations against members of staff should be reported to the designated officers and in the case of the Headteacher to Mrs Kelly Lupton, Chair of Governors. Should the need for subsequent action be required additional help in investigating the said incident/s will be sought with other agencies e.g. Children’s Services, Human Resources, Police etc.
Written notification to the staff member will be given and all conversations/correspondences minuted if the need for further action, evidence etc. Legal representation to be sought if required.
All allegations against staff will be reported to Cumbria’s Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) within one working day of the allegation.

Policy Review: The policy will be reviewed annually by the Governors and subsequently by the Staff.
